Miss Mendez

Grade 3
Room #405

My name is Aracele Mendez. I graduated from California State University, Fresno in 2005 with a Bachelors of Arts in Liberal Studies. I completed my credential in 2007 and started my career as a first grade teacher at Summit Charter Academy-Mathew in the Fall of 2007. I taught first grade for four years; two of which were in English only classroom and the other two years in a Dual Immersion classroom. I also taught one year of third grade and two years of second grade. I am now excited to start my eighth year as a second grade dual immersion teacher.

I am the oldest child of two and the first one in my family to pursue a college degree. I grew up in the little town of Ivanhoe and now live in Visalia. I have three beautiful nieces: Alexa, Daisy and Yezel and my nephew Sammy. I have a deep passion for science, sightseeing and love calamari. During my leisure time I enjoy walking, jogging, kayaking, Salsa dancing and reading. I also enjoy traveling. I’ve had the opportunity of traveling to: Los Cabo’s San Lucas, Argentina, Florida, Hawaii, Oregon, Puerto Rico, Cancún and the Yucatan Peninsula. I am now looking forward to exploring the rain forest and beaches of Costa Rica.

My philosophy for learning is that every child is unique, and each child learns in a different way. My role as a dual immersion teacher is to incorporate a variety of instruction strategies and develop differentiated lessons plans to ensure the success of every student. It is my also my goal to create a safe community where students feel confident to take risk and eager to learn on a basis. Most importantly I want to create problems solvers and critical thinkers through the usage of open ended question and positive reinforcements.

Collaboration, cooperation, and open communication between home and school are keys to building a strong foundation for a successful school year. Please feel free to contact me at any time. I can be reached at (559) 782-5902 or via e-mail (amendez@burtonschools.org). If you would like to talk in person, I am always available before and after school.
